The Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to attend the 2012 Democratic Union of Africa (DUA) Party Leaders' meeting in Accra from the 14-16 September 2012.

The two-day meeting is being hosted by the NPP under the theme 'Sustaining Democracy and Economic Development in Africa-The Center-Right Way'.

A press statement signed by the Deputy Director of Communications for the NPP, Curtis Perry K. Okudzeto mentioned that Nana Akufo-Addo is the special guest of honour for the programme.

Other leaders expected to address the meeting include H.E President John Agyekum Kufuor, the Chairman of DUA, Dr. Kizza Besigye, the Secretary General of the International Democrat Union (IDU), Eirik Moen, and leaders of centre-right political parties in Africa.

The statement further explained that “The Democrat Union of Africa (DUA) is a working association of democratic parties in Africa and like-minded political parties of the centre and centre right.

DUA provides a forum in which Parties holding similar beliefs can come together and exchange views on matters of policy and organizational interest, so that they can learn from each other, act together, establish contacts and speak with one strong voice to promote democracy and centre, centre-right policies around in Africa.

DUA was formed with a belief that democratic society provides individuals with conditions for political liberty, personal freedom and equality of opportunity under the rule of law. DUA promotes a culture of pluralistic competition, enterprise and socially oriented market economy. DUA is the regional organisation of the International Democrat Union (IDU).”
