| Farmer Jailed 36 Months For Stealing Goat |

A 26-year-old farmer, who stole and slaughtered a billy goat, valued at 80 Ghana Cedis, , has been jailed for 36 months in hard labour by a circuit court at Akim Swedru in the Eastern Region.
Saabi Haruna admitted stealing the goat belonging to Mr. Kwaku Willie, a carpenter.
The court presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong, further ordered Haruna to pay 80 Ghana Cedis as the cost of the goat to the complainant,
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Wilberforce Kwaku Appiah, stated that on September 3, this year around 0400 hours, Kwaku Willie’s mother spotted Haruna stealing her goat and therefore, informed her son.
He said Kwaku Willie traced the convict to his house and later sought the company of his brother to the convict’s room, where saw the fresh carcass of a goat. Kwaku Willie was helped by people in the neighbourhood to send Haruna and the meat to the Police station. |
