The Funeral Planning Committee has extended the period allowed for the general public to pay their last respect to Prof. John Evans Atta Mills beyond 7pm today.

A statement from the Funeral Planning Committee explained that this has become necessary due to the long queues which continue to persist outside the precincts of the State House.

The general public now has up to 9pm to file past.

The statement also announced that so far about 65 delegations including Heads of States and international organizations have confirmed their participation in Friday’s funeral service at the Independence Square.

The statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also announced the following convergence points, from which the following distinguished groups will be shuttled to the Independence Square at 8am tomorrow Friday the 10th of August, 2012:

Judiciary - Supreme Court Car Park
Ministers - Castle Annex Car Park
Members of Parliament - Parliament House Car Park
Council of State - Council of State Car Park
Chiefs and Queen Mothers - VAG Club House
Chief Executives of State Organizations
& Chief Directors of Ministries - El-Wak Sports Stadium

The statement concluded by thanking all Ghanaians for the continuous show of collective love and respect as we befittingly see off President John Evans Atta Mills.
