Ghanaians are geared for the one week celebration of the death of President John Evans Atta Mills, the Fourth President of the Fourth Republic.

He died at 14:15 on Tuesday, July 24 at the 37th Military Hospital. An official statement has directed all Ghanaians, institutions and organisations to observe a minute’s silence in his memory at 14:15 as part of the celebrations.

All Regional Coordinating Councils and District Assemblies have planned series of activities to mark the day.

In Accra, the celebration has been scheduled for the Afua Sutherland Children's Park that has been draped in black and red clothes to signify mourning.

A lot of people are wearing red and black clothes and some are carrying portraits of the late President.

At the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum is a giant billboard with the inscription, Man of Peace Rest In Peace and the entrance of the Flagstaff House hang black and red clothes with portraits of President Mills.
