Mr Enoch Teye-Mensah, Minster of Water Resources Works and Housing has noted that the Ministry has put in place various measures to ensure that all projects being undertaken would be completed as scheduled.

He said projects in the various sectors of the Ministry including housing, rural housing, urban water, sea defence were all on course to facilitate the better Ghana Agenda.

Mr Teye-Mensah made the observation when a 21- member Parliamentary Select Committee on Works paid a courtesy call at the Ministry in Accra to discuss issues in the housing, water and works sector on Wednesday.

He said with the Affordable housing project, auditing and signing had been completed whilst letters had been issued to contractors to confirm their completion of the projects.

He noted that allocations would be made to the security services, nurses among other professions and individuals.

Mr Teye-Mensah said the Ministry expects that by the end of the month all contractors would move to sight.

He said in the area of rural housing, 20 houses have been completed for cocoa farmers, with six yet to be completed.

Another set of houses are yet to be constructed in the Western Region which is one of the major cocoa producing areas.

He noted that the Jita Coastal stretch has also been completed under the first phase whilst the second phase is on course.

The Minister said the Sakumono Sea Defence Project, Ada Sea Defence, Coastal Protection and Drainage Project at Tepa and Ejura are near completion, whilst Infrastructure for senior high schools, dormitories, science resource centres, assembly halls, and lecture halls to improve the infrastructural facilities in the schools are ongoing.

Projects in the water sector are also taking place in various parts of the country to help take care of water demands.

Mr David Tetteh Assumeng, Chairman of the Committee said it was the duty of the body to oversee the activities of the Ministry to enhance development.
