Felix Sakyi, a primary-three pupil of Seventh Day Adventist Preparatory School in the Sunyani Municipality, allegedly hanged himself on Wednesday evening when his grandmother, whom he was staying with, went out for a funeral.

According to a cousin, who gave her name as Portia Berko, she was in the house with Felix the whole day since he didn’t go to school.

She stated that Felix only stepped out to see off his mother who came to visit them. Before the mother left, she asked Felix to go with her to Seikwa where she stayed for the weekend since the other sibling was going with her, but the deceased refused because he said his clothes were dirty.

Portia further explained that when the deceased came back, he went to buy an egg and kenkey for a meal.

After eating, he wasn’t seen until the grandmother came back from the funeral around 5pm to find him hanging in the room and shouted for help.

Portia said Felix had not been to school for the past one week but had not shown any sign that there was something wrong with him. Felix Sakyi, according to family members, was the first of two children.

Portia said they informed the police about the death and the police came for the body to be deposited at the morgue.
