Nana Akufo Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag-bearer for the 2012 election, will speak today at the College of Physicians and Surgeons on the theme ‘Building a Society of Opportunities’ to flag off what is intended to be an annual national discourse.

The ‘Liberty Lectures’ series will host important personalities with varied experiences which would be put at the disposal of the country as it continues its search for development and opportunities for especially the youth.

It is significant that the flag-bearer of the largest opposition party is kick-starting the programme, an opportunity to put forth his vision for 2012, a political watershed in the country’s history.

The one-time Justice Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Nana Akufo Addo, endowed with a rich experience in public service, legal practice and even in the struggle for good governance and democracy for that matter, is a man to listen to.

Today’s programme is seen as another opportunity for Nana Akufo Addo to share this experience with those who see in his vision a blueprint for Ghana’s development.

In attendance will be former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Alhaji Aliu Mahama and other important dignitaries, especially from the diplomatic community.

The programme was intended to coincide with the anniversary of the formation of the Aborigines Rights Protection Society, the important landmark in the history of the Gold Coast in which indigenes like Mensah Sarbah stood up against the land grab policy of the colonialists.

The August 4 date was put off due to unforeseen reasons to today’s date at 6.30pm, according to the organizers.

The programme, purely an academic discourse, is non-partisan, DAILY GUIDE has learnt.
