Several female students of Imo State University, IMSU, Owerri, living in hostels located close to the Anglican Bishop’s court, were mercilessly robbed and raped by dare devil armed robbers last Wednesday.

Saturday Vanguard gathered that the robbers raided virtually all the rooms in the hostels, collected mobile phones, laptop computers, jewellery and other valuable personal effects, and raped the girls.

Angered by what one of the victims called “the despicable act of the heartless armed robbers”, the angry students marched peacefully to the Government House, Owerri, to lodge their complaint to Governor Rochas Okorocha.

The students were particularly irked about the health of all the girls raped, especially now that HIV/AIDS is ravaging the some parts of the country.

While saying that all the students occupying these external hostels are constantly attacked by hoodlums, they equally mentioned that the President, Bishop’s Court Hostels Alliance was recently attacked by these bandits.

“If the landlords refuse to improve the security of life and property in these hostels, we shall refuse to pay our rents when the time is due. All the students will be united in this legitimate action”, one of the angry female students told Saturday Vanguard.
