“After prophesying that I will travel abroad, he asked me to visit him in the house. While there, he told me to undress. He then stroked my penis and when I discharged, he took the sperms for prayers. He later asked me to have sex with another church member while he watched us in his sitting room……”
These were the words of 25-year-old James Ashie Awuni, who was sexually assaulted by his head pastor at Teshie Agblesah, a suburb of Accra.
The 31-year-old pastor, Moses Azumah of Gospel Proclamation Mission, has been arrested by the Teshie District Police Command for interrogation.
Narrating his ordeal, James Awuni, a labourer and a native of Kapolo in the Upper East Region, noted that he had attended the church, Gospel Proclamation Mission, for the past two years.
“A year ago, during one of our deliverance services, Pastor Azumah prophesied that it had been revealed to him that I would travel abroad.” He reiterated that Pastor Azumah therefore asked him to come over to his house later after church service. “When I finally went to the pastor’s residence, he prayed for me and suggested that I should bring GH¢500 for the traveling passport and other documentation.”
According to Awuni, later after church service, Pastor Azumah asked him to come over to the house for rituals, which he did. “In the house, Pastor Azumah locked his room and then asked me to undress for the rituals to begin. He stroked my penis until I discharged and he took my sperms and kept them. While in the room, a lady came in and so he asked me to sleep with her as well.
“Later, he asked the two of us to meet in his room and there he ordered us to have repeated sexual intercourse; more than five times.”
Confirming the story, the Station Officer in charge of the Teshie district command, Inspector David Mensah Amevor, said Patience Ashadu, in a statement to the police, said Pastor Azumah prophesied to her during a deliverance service that there was some evil spirit in her stomach. “She said Pastor Azumah asked her to meet him in the house and when she got there, the pastor asked her to sleep with James Awuni while he watched.”
“Since then, we have been meeting in the pastor’s house to have sex while he watches, always,” said 19-year-old Patience Ashadu. Inspector Amevor said Pastor Azumah was finally arrested on Sunday after a search for him earlier proved futile.
The station officer stated that Pastor Azumah would be arraigned soon. |
