A 55-year-old man is alleged to have inflicted cutlass wounds on his own son for disobeying his orders and harvesting mushrooms from farm.

Agya Ansu allegedly used the cutlass he was using to clear weeds on the farm, to inflict various degrees of injury on the head, neck and hands of his 18-year-old son (name withheld) until the boy collapsed.

It is being speculated that, Agya Ansu decided to go “ballistics” when the boy challenged him in a nasty confrontation.

And to teach him where power lies, the middle-aged man used his cutlass to deliver the coup de grace following which he doubled his steps and fled the village, for fear of being hunted by the police and brought to justice.

Surprisingly, Agya Ansu has returned to Mosikrom near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa East District of the Brong Ahafo Region, where the incident occurred, and is walking about freely as his family members have decided to resolve the matter themselves without involving the police.

According to Eric Crenstil who is close to the family, the boy survived as he was rushed to the Dormaa Government Hospital by a good Samaritan who chanced upon him in the farm and made a report to the townsfolk.

Recounting the circumstances that led to the attempted murder of the boy, Eric told The Spectator that Agya Ansu had for sometime been complaining that his son did not respect him and always disobeyed him. He had also warned him not to take anything belonging to him.

However, he said, on February 20, the father went to his farm only to find his son collecting mushrooms. This, he said, infuriated, Agya Ansu decided to punish the boy as if he was a thief.

When the boy fell unconscious, he fled the village but returned about two weeks later. The family is said to be arbitrating the case on their own.

IF THE POLICE DOES NOT ACT I WILL SUE THE IGP AND THE POLICE SERVICE What nonsense is this? This man must be arrested and dealt with by the law. He is a criminal who acted with the intent to murder that young man. He feld the scene after inflicting horrific cutlass wounds on the lad. The young boy's life was only saved because someone passed by the farm, saw him lying there bleeding to death and mobilized to send him to the hospital. The police has no excuse but to investigate now that it has been reported in the media or I will sue the IGP and the police service! I swear!!
