Mr Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolis Chief Executive, has urged Assembly Guards to be disciplined and not to arrogate themselves with special powers by taking the laws into their own hands.

He noted that the development of the Assembly depended on the concerted efforts of individual worker towards the fulfilment of its commitments to the people.

Mr Sarpong was speaking at a passing out parade of 60 newly recruited guards of the Assembly in Kumasi on Friday.

He said the guards, who are agents of the Assembly, were expected to enforce by-laws on traffic management, protect public property and also assisted in the collection of revenue.

Mr Sarpong advised them against bribery and corruption, which could tarnish their images adding "the Assembly will not hesitate to apply the appropriate sanctions including outright dismissal against them for misconduct".

Mr Sarpong asked them to live above reproach and be worthy ambassadors to the Assembly and ensure that the public continued to have confidence in the KMA.

Mr Sarpong called on the police to collaborate effectively with the Assembly to ensure maintenance of peace and order in the Metropolis.

Mr Paul Ayedzi was adjudged the overall best recruit, Issac Antwi Bosiako as best in conduct whiles, Christiana Naa Kramo also as best in Drill and were presented with prizes.
