The District Chief Executive for the Bawku West District Assembly in the Upper East Region, Moro Adam Anaba, is calling on government to institute measures that will regulate fixed pricing of agric produce for farmers on the market.

He said as it is done in the case of some cash crops like cocoa, coffee, cotton amongst others, there should be some mechanisms to cushion farmers against unfair prices with food crops. He said this will ostensibly guarantee food security, as this will serve as an impetus for farmers to cultivate on a larger scale to improve their lots.

Mr. Anaba Moro was speaking to Ghanadistricts.com in an interview to highlight the development so far in the area of Agric in the district.

He said because of the myriads of interventions introduced by government in agric, it has culminated in attracting more people to farming, especially in his district. He was therefore quick to add that on account of the market lapses of agric produce, it is serving as a disincentive for them to produce adequately for the market.

He therefore commended government for the fine interventions created in the agriculture sector, such as the subsidies on fertilizers, and other agric inputs, Block farming system, youth in Agric and host of credit facilities to improve agric in all areas of the country.
