| Hundreds of people pay last respect to Reverend Torsah |

Hundreds of people including the Clergy Saturday paid their last respect to the late Reverend Michael Korblavi Torsah of the Evangelic Assemblies of God Church in Ho.
The ‘men of God’ who thronged the Ho Jubilee Park for the late Rev Torsah’s burial service paid glowing tribute to the man believed to have “opened the door to Pentecostal and charismatic movement in the region.”
Among the ministers of the gospel were the very Reverend Japheth Ledo, Former Moderator, Evangelical Presbyterian Church and Reverend Dr Emmanuel Gbordzoe, Former Moderator, Global Evangelical Church.
Some pastors who described themselves as “spiritual sons and daughters” of Rev Torsah’s wept uncontrollably.
Rev Dr Paul Frimpong-Manso, General Superintendent of the General Council, Assemblies of God, Ghana credited the 140 branches of the Assemblies of God Church in the Volta Region to the late Rev Torsah.
He described Rev Torsah as a mentor, role model, a pioneer, jovial and friendly.
A tribute from the General Council said Rev Torsah “single-handedly took on the... region for Christ when the place was still a virgin land to the gospel.”
Rev Torsah was also said to have worked under very difficult conditions to plant the Evangelic Assemblies of God Church at Ho Bankoe, which started in a kiosk which also served as his house with three adults and six children as his converts.
Rev Frimpong-Manso in a sermon underscored the need for everyone to “prepare now” in anticipation of dying one day and facing judgment.
Rev Torsah was born on Tuesday 14th September 1935 at Anlo Asadame in the Keta Municipality and got converted in 1963.
He joined the Evangel Assemblies of God Church at Adabraka in Accra in 1970, got ordained in 1974 as a pastor and began his pastoral work that same year in the region.
He is survived by a wife and five children. |
