Mr. Jude Hama, General Director of the Scripture Union, On Monday pledged the group's support for programmes that seek the wellbeing and development of the people especially the youth.

He called on the youth to strive to attain academic excellence and be dedicated to national development.

Mr. Hama was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after a two-day evangelistic programme at the Ghana Secondary Technical School in Takoradi.

Twenty Senior High Schools within the country participated in the programme that discussed topics including "Jesus freedom, real freedom", "Jesus love, true love" and "The best valantine of the world".

Mr. Hama said the Scripture Union reached out to 1,500 students of the School and 508 of them expressed the desire to be counselled in areas such as academic, moral and spiritual development.

He said: "Scripture Union is in partnership with the state towards the wellbeing of the youth who constitute the majority of the population of the nation".

He said as part of the celebration of 120 years of existence, the Union would hold spiritual renewal conferences and retreat across the country and it also re-launch the Bible campaign towards the spread of Christianity.
