President J.E.A. Mills says Ghanaians need to thank God for the many blessings that he has bestowed on this nation. He also commended Men of God in the country who have on several occasions been praying for peace and progress of the nation.

President Mills stated these when some great Religious Leaders in this country met him at the Castle, Osu. President Mills says if one looks critically, it will be observed that nations that are very rich have firm spiritual foundations.

The Planning Committee Chairman of the Presidential National Annual Thanksgiving Prayers Programme, Rev. Dr. Amo Darko, said in consultation with President Mills, the first Sunday after Independence Day has been declared as a National Thanksgiving Day.

“Therefore March 14th 2010 will be observed as such across Ghana,” he stated. He said there will also be National Fasting and Prayers from 7th – 13th March, 2010, which will climax on February 14th,” he disclosed.

The Moderator of the Presby Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso, led the Pastors. The Head of Word Miracle International Church, Rev. Dr. Charles Agyin Asare, prayed for Black Stars, the media and the nation. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Asante also prayed for President Mills and the nation.
