A 374-page book titled "Stranded on both Banks", which seeks to diagnose the conflict between Christianity and African Traditional Religion, has been launched in Kumasi.

Monsignor Raphael Owusu Peprah, Rector of the Saint Peter's Cathedral Basilica authored the book, which proceeds would go to support the education of brilliant but needy students.

The first copy was auctioned at GH˘2,000.

The Reverend Father George Boakye Danquah, Rector of the Spiritan University College, Ejisu, described the book as "very informative and educative" and recommended it to pastors and educators to help them to better understand what has been lacking in modern day life.

"We all need to read it to enrich our minds and our thinking," he added.

Emeritus Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, the Most Rev. Peter Akwasi Sarpong, praised the author for the extensive research that went into the book and urged Ghanaians to develop the habit of reading to broaden their outlook.

He said it was important for them to have sober reflection of life to understand where they would be going after death.

Mr J .K Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, who reviewed the book, said the work was "a masterpiece" and must be read by all irrespective of religious background to promote tolerance and respect for beliefs they do not necessarily share.

Monsignor Owusu-Peprah said he was touched by the plight of brilliant but poor children in rural areas, hence the decision to support them.
