The Atta Mills Foundation, a pro-democracy group, has appealed to religious bodies to continue to use their regions to promote peace in Bawku and other conflict areas in the country.

In addition, they should encourage the feuding factions to allow rational thinking and understanding to prevail.

This was contained in a statement signed by Togbui Mawufeame Fugah, the Life Patron of the Foundation and issued in Kumasi to mark this year's Muslims' Eid-Ul-Adha.

It noted that religion provides a better platform to soften peoples' hearts and make peace.

The statement said the leadership of the different religious faiths must threw their weight behind government's efforts and engage the key actors in Bawku to renounce violence and seek negotiated settlement to the conflict.

It appealed also to religious leaders to dissuade their followers from chieftaincy, land and ethnic disputes.

It wished Muslims well and lauded government for putting in place pragmatic measures that ensured successful organization of this year's Hajj.
