The General Overseer of International God’s Way Church, headquatered at Kenyase-Bosore, in the Ashanti Region, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has broken his long silence on the widely publicized allegations of his involvement in clandestine activities and stage-managed healing of the sick.
Frank Annor, who claims to be a former confidante, is accusing him (Obinim) of employing his services together with three aides of the Bishop, namely Charles, Victor and Willie, to carry out nefarious activities for a fee, some of which include burying dead snakes, candles, and bones (suspected to be human), at the Church premises of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre, at Ahenema Kokoben, in the Ashanti Region, ostensibly to discredit its Founder and General Overseer, Rev. Ebenezer Adarkwah Yiadom.
However, in an exclusive interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on PEACEFM’s Flagship programme “Kokrokoo”, Bishop Obinim refuted the allegations levelled against him as spurious, and denied ever knowing the said Frank Annor. He described him (Frank Annor) as an imposter deployed by Rev. Ebenezer Adarkwah Yiadom to dishonor him due to his “good works”.
“One of my aides called me on Wednesday, November 25th, and said I was needed at the Suame Police Station in Kumasi, since a case had been lodged against me…on arrival at the station, the police were unable to tell me who my accuser was…but I also received several calls from friends that the incident at the police station was being carried live on a radio station in Kumasi owned by Rev. Ebenezer Adarkwah Yiadom,” he said.
“False Accusations?”
According to Bishop Daniel Obinim, there is no substance in the allegations, but believed it was a fabrication devised by Rev. Ebenezer Adarkwah Yiadom to smear him.
“If it was not hatched by him, how could he allow his radio station to broadcast it live on air? All those who gathered at the police station confessed they heard it on-air, they did not plan it well…most radio stations in Kumasi did not carry it, why did your own radio station (Hello Fm) not carry it live?” He asked Sefa Kayi.
Bishop Obinim described his situation as a trying moment in his life and called on all churches, especially, members of the Church of Pentecost, Roman Catholic, Anglican, Assemblies of God and his own church members to come together to fast and pray for him.
Though he acknowledged that there was a rift between himself and Rev. Adarkwa dating back to the early part of this year, he flatly denied competing with Rev. Adarkwa for spiritual superiority.
“I am not challenging him or want to take his glory away from him; I am only gathering souls for Christ. (He quoted Daniel Chapter 12 to buttress his point). "The Christian Council can even call him to question him as to why he is plotting against me. If he wants me to leave Metro TV, a T.V channel where I preach, or Tema where I have a branch or Accra where I started ministering before he did, or even Kumasi where I began, for him to take control, I will gladly do that, all in the name of peace,” he cried.
Meanwhile, the Crime Officer of the Suame Police, DSP Kwaku Duah, has requested that three aides of Bishop Obinim, whose names were given as Charles, Victor and Willie, urgently avail themselves to the police to facilitate speedy investigations into the case. Pursuant to that, Bishop Obinim says he has directed his lawyer, to send the three aides to the Suame Police Station as required.
