Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive (DCE), has called on Muslims to let the Eid-ul-Adha, which is a festival of sacrifice to motivate them in their efforts towards nation building.

Addressing Muslims at Gomoa Ankamu, during this year's celebration of the event, Mr Aidoo-Mensah said Muslims must learn from Ibrahim who was ready to sacrifice his only son to Allah, to learn how to love and be obedient.

"It is obedience to a call of his maker and the love for him, which made Ibrahim to decide to sacrifice his only begotten son Ishmael (Isaac) which he had at an old age of about 90 years," he said.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah said the lessons about Eid-ul-Adha must apply to all Ghanaians irrespective of their religious inclinations.

"If we take lessons of the festival seriously we would not be found wanting in our responsibilities towards the state," he emphasised.

He said Ibrahim gave out his only son to God and asked "do we (Ghanaians) also give out our best attention to national duties.

"Do we love our country and even prepared to die for it?"

The DCE said if Ghanaians do not to sit on the fence and criticize, the nation could develop faster than expected.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah commended government and this year's Hajj Organising Committee for the peaceful manner the pilgrimage was put in order.

He appealed to Muslims to invest in the education of their children.

Sheikh Hussein Kassim, Ankamu Zonal Imam urged Muslim youth to embrace the "youth in agriculture programme" to enable them to earn decent living.

He cautioned the youth against engaging themselves in anti-social activities, which are against the tenets of Islam.
