The Volta River Authority (VRA) announced on Friday that it would shut down one of its units at Tema for a planned regular maintenance work.

It said this would result in a shortfall in generation of about 100 MW at peak hours from Friday, January 11 to Sunday, January 13 from 6pm to 11pm each day.

A statement issued by the Corporate Communication Unit of VRA in Accra said it was expected that this would result in some amount of load shedding.

"We therefore wish to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and want to assure our valued customers and the general public that VRA is committed to ensure the supply of adequate power in the country," the statement said.
