| Westrock Quarries takes step to protect residents against excessive dust and noise |

Westrock Quarries Limited, a leading quarry company in the Shama District, has assured residents and communities in its operational area that it had taken steps to reduce drastically excessive dust and noise pollution.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Mr. Samuel Kingsley Kwofie, said the Westrock would soon acquire dust suppressing machines to reduce dust emanating from its operations whilst a rock crashing machine had already been acquired to reduce the noise level of blasting.
He gave the assurance at an award ceremony for its tipper truck drivers at Anto at the weekend.
Mr. Kwofie also note4d said a site had been acquired for the construction of a six-unit teachers’ bungalow at Anto in the Shama District as part of its corporate social responsibility.
In all, 10 dedicated tipper truck drivers were presented with awards ranging from television set, Multi-Choice decoder, refrigerator, DVD player and mobile phones.
The CEO entreated those who could not win an award to work harder to merit one in the next awards ceremony later this year.
Mr. Daniel Kofi Obosu, the Quarry Operations Manager, said the company produces an average of 1,500 cubic metres of quarry products per day and 52,000 tons per month making it one of the leading quarry companies in the Western and Central regions.
He mentioned some of its products as chippings, quarry dust and other quarry products upon specification. |
