Calls from sections of the public for President John Dramani Mahama to give his policy direction as to how he would be steering the affairs of the country, have been answered as the President hints that he would be presenting “an agenda to the nation on some policy measures” in two weeks.

These calls mainly from some political parties were loudest when they were asked about their expectations ahead of the president’s national address which was his first after being sworn into office three weeks ago.

Some of them asked for him to present a comprehensive agenda on how he intends to grow the agriculture sector, how he would manage government’s resources and revenues, his policy on education, health, transport amongst others and whether or not he would be making some drastic changes in these sectors which would be very different from that of his immediate predecessor, Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

In his address on Wednesday, President Mahama indicated that “although we have made great strides together as a nation, I’m very much aware that there are places within this country where people lack access to the productive, economic, health and social infrastructure that will help them make the most of their opportunities and create a decent life for themselves and their families.

“Together we can change this, together we will change this… in the next two weeks I’ll present an agenda to the nation on some policy measures we need to take to consolidate the progress we’ve made. I wish to preside over a country whose ethnically divergent people are its greatest source of strength, talent and innovation, a country whose energies would be concentrated in extracting the most extraordinary aspect of our differences and transforming them into a source of growth and enterprise creation.”
