His Excellency, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor, former President of Ghana is set to deliver his first major address in Ghana since leaving office on January 7, 2009.

Mr. Kufuor during his tenure and out of office has built a sterling reputation as an international statesman.

In 2011 he was chosen to receive the World Food Prize together with President da Silva of Brazil for having shown personal commitment and visionary leadership while serving as President of Ghana.

Since leaving office, the former president has been speaking at various international lectures including the prestigious Legatum Pericles Lecture at the Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He will be speaking on the theme: “Development in Freedom: Empowering the People to Build the Nation” at the 2nd Liberty Lecture of the Danquah Institute tomorrow, Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 6:00pm at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
