The Ghana Lotto Operators Association (GLOA) on Tuesday, contributed their widow’s mite to the government of Ghana, through the Prof. Mills Funeral Planning Committee towards a successful organization of the funeral and burial service for late President John Evans Atta Mills who passed away on the 24th of last month.

By this presentation, GLOA becomes the first corporate entity in private lotto operation, to donate to the three day funeral event, and joins other various groups and companies that have and are still making donations towards the funeral which climaxes with the burial of the late law Professor on August 10, 2012.

Chairman of the association, Mr. Daniel Borso, handed over 10 cartons of beer, 5 cartons of Guinness, 5 cartons of Malt and a cash of GH˘5,000 to the Funeral Committee at a brief ceremony at the State Protocol’s Office, State House.

“The death of Prof. Mills has really worried us. He was like a father to us. It got to a point nobody wanted to listen to the concerns of GLOA. He (Prof. Mills) was the only person who listened to us and gave us hope. He and the Chief of Staff called us to his office on about three occasions and at various times held discussions with us concerning the laws governing private lotto operation in the country even though parliament was in charge of seeing to it that something was done about the law. So this is just a way of saying thank you to Prof. Mills…,” he said as he parted away with the donation.

A member of the Funeral Planning Committee, Auntie Rebecca, received the items on behalf of the committee.

Also making their donations were the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA).

The group which made an earlier presentation to former First Lady, Naadu Mills, again presented 30 boxes of Mineral Water and 10 cartons each of Malt, Beer, Guinness and other soft drinks to the Funeral Committee.

Presenting the items, Madam Joana Adda, Marketing and Public Relations Manager of the GPHA said considering how the former President related to them, they felt compelled to offer the little they can to help in his burial arrangements.
