A National re-afforestation project to stop environmental degradation within the operational zone of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority, SADA, has been launched at Vea in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region.
The 75 million-cedi project involves the initial planting of five million seedlings of assorted trees a year.
The Vice President, John Mahama, who did the launch, noted that the savannah enclave faces the danger of desertification if more trees are not planted to reclaim the lost vegetation.
The re-afforestation project is a partnership between ACI Construction Company and SADA and will be operated under a public private partnership over a five-year period.
