After Anderson Cooper made a heartfelt declaration that he's gay, the news not only made international headlines on Monday (July 2), but was greeted with an outpouring of support for the CNN anchor from fans and celebrity friends. The Twitter reactions alone are brimming with love and expressions of pride.

"I'm proud of you, @AndersonCooper," Cooper's pal Ellen DeGeneres tweeted.

Neil Patrick Harris, who came out publicly in 2006, also tweeted his support. "Good for you, @AndersonCooper," Harris wrote. "You're awesome."

Pro figure skater Johnny Weir offered up a message that included a humorous tidbit from a recent encounter with Cooper.

"Very proud of @AndersonCooper," Weir wrote. "I recently shared an airplane ride with him and he smells of baby powder and sunshine. Well done sir."

"Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson also commended the CNN anchor for his well-worded reveal: "One of the reasons I look up to my friend @andersoncooper is his amazing eloquence. Very proud of him!"

"So proud of you @andersoncooper. Always have been, always will be," said Kelly Ripa, who frequently enlists Cooper's co-hosting skills on her morning talk show.

"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Nene Leakes sent Cooper — who is an unabashed fan of the Bravo diva — a warm Twitter hug. "That did it......Now I really love @andersoncooper," she posted.

And finally, balladeer Josh Groban added his own lighthearted take on the news: "Wait, I'm sorry I only get my news by creeping up behind water coolers with an iPod in my ears," he tweeted. "Anderson Cooper is Gaelic?"
