The visiting Ivorian President, Laurent Koudou Gbagbo, has said that the construction of the Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum attests to the fact that his struggle to liberate Ghana and embark on a continued emancipation has paid off.
He said he is happy that the emancipation struggle set out by Dr Nkrumah is recognised by Africans on the continent. President Gbagbo made these remarks when he visited the Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum as part of his two-day official visit, which ends today, Wednesday, 4th November, 2009.
According to him, it is historic for him to see the official car which was used by Dr Nkrumah and the fact that the mausoleum has kept most of his pictures during his reign as president.
President Mills, on his part, said Ghana and Ivory Coast enjoy good relations and hooped that the political instability would come to an end.
The Ivorian President, who arrived in the country at around 11.30am, was met on arrival by President Mills and top government officials and they inspected a guard mounted in his honour. The Ivorian community was at the Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport to welcome their president. He holds bilateral talks with President Mills this morning, after which a joint communiqué will be issued.
