The Commission of Inquiry investigating the operations of the Ghana@50 Secretariat and the National Planning Committee (NPC) of the Government of Ghana (GoG) yesterday, 19 October, 2009 let down the former Chief of Staff, Mr. Kwadwo Mpiani, who also doubled as the Chairman of the Golden Jubilee celebrations who was billed to appear before the Commissioners as well as the scores of media personnel who had thronged the venue of the probe to witness the widely anticipated proceedings of the Commission.

Information gathered by The New Crusading Guide indicated that the hearing was postponed to Friday October 23, 2009 due to some emergency family meeting involving Mr. Osei Tutu Prempeh, a former Auditor – General and member of the Commission probing the activities of Ghana@50. Some sympathizers of the former Chief of Staff who got to the premises of the Commission at 9am were not enthused about the turn of events; claiming it was part of the ‘tactics’ of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) operatives to frustrate the effort of the former Chief of Staff in clearing himself and correcting the misinformation that had been propagated by sections of the media.

The Counsel for the former Chief of Staff, Mr. Egbert Faibille Jnr, who arrived at the premises of the commission at 10.05am was equally surprised when the Media Liaison Officer for the Commission,
Mr. Ato Kobby approached him to inform him that he (Ato Kobby) had been asked by Mrs. Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong, a member of the Commission and Justice Isaac Duotse, the Chairman, to inform him (Faibille) that the hearing had been postponed because one of the Commissioners was absent and attending to an emergency family meeting.

Meanwhile, it would be recalled that the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Secretariat, Dr. Wereko-Brobby last week testified before the Commission.
