The District Chief Executive for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Mr Moses Kofi Armah, has urged people in the area to take advantage of the Business Advisory Centres (BACs) to lift themselves from poverty.

The Centres, set up by the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI), he said, are to help to increase the incomes of particularly women and vulnerable groups through sharpening their entrepreneurial skills.

Mr Armah was addressing the closing ceremony of a 10-day soap-making training workshop for members of the Grace Presbyterian Women’s Fellowship at Bibiani in the Western Region.

It was organized as part of efforts at helping women to become economically self-supporting.

He said it was not enough for people to only acquire employable skills and set up businesses but that they should make sure that they adopted good and efficient management practices to grow their businesses.

This, they could do by closely working with the BACs.

Mr Bernard Agyemang Duah, the Head of the BAC in the district, said they were doing everything to help improve rural economies.

He called on the district assembly to back the Centre’s interventions with financial and material resources.

BAC has been training people in snail and grass-cutter rearing, batik, tye and dye making, bee-keeping and palm-kernel oil extraction.
