The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to advise their members against pasting posters of their party in and around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The Ashanti Regional NDC has accused the NPP members in the region of defacing posters of President John Mahama and replacing them with that of the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium which is the venue for the NDC delegates’ congress on Thursday.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eye Witness News on Tuesday, the NDC’s General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia stated that these provocative moves by the NPP can lead to avoidable misunderstandings.

He said: “we are calling on the leadership of the NPP to call their supporters in Kumasi to order. The leadership of all the political parties are preaching peace but when you go to the ground, you will see that the story could be different.”

He described the NPP’s actions as “unnecessary provocation which could likely lead to chaos which may not be under the control of the party leadership.”
