Health training institutions asked to use vehicles judiciously

Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor, Minister of Health, has cautioned heads of health training institutions against the use of school vehicles for the transportation of people during funerals.

He said the Ministry of Health has realized that buses for some health training institutions in the country were being used indiscriminately, affecting administration and academic work.

Dr. Kunbuor, who gave the warning when he presented a 30-seater bus to the Health Assistants Training School in Wa, said the Ministry would not spare any school official who would go against the warning.

Mr. Mahmud Khalid, Upper West Regional Minister, who received keys to the bus, said that the Regional Coordinating Council had acquired a plot for the building of structures for the school.

He appealed to the Ministry to expedite action on the school project to enable it have a permanent building to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr. Khalid said: "Right now classes are being organized under temporary structures and this is creating overcrowding and also affecting teaching and learning".

Dr. Alexis Nang-beifubah, Regional Director of Health, commended the Ministry for providing the school with a bus and gave the assurance that it would be use with care to promote academic work.
