The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that a bid to complete Kevin Prince Boateng’s nationality switch remains intact.

Vice President of the sport body, Fred Pappoe insists that the GFA has submitted the relevant documentation sought by world football governing body Fifa to formalize the player's transition from an ex-German youth international to a Ghana international.

Boateng's switch has become the subject matter this week in the media after reports had sought to conclude that the FA was stalling the process. However, Fred Pappoe says Ghana was very committed to securing the on loan Portsmouth midfielder and insists that it has been up to date with the process.

“We started this process about six months ago and have sent every documents that Fifa has asked for. If there is anything we have not done then Fifa has not communicated that to us so to create the impression of an incompetent body is mostly unfair.

“We have been in regular touch with Kevin and he understands we want this to happen, the coach Rajevac is keen on him and we were the ones who initiated this process. We have sent letters from the German FA stating they have no objection to the switch to FIFA and have asked for documents relating to his mother's nationality even though it has no bearing on the outcome of the ruling,” Pappoe said.

The player hopes to play at his debut World Cup finals by lining up for Ghana once the process is complete. Boateng, last year opted against a possible future with the German national team, favouring Ghana instead."I would like to play for Ghana. I have made contact with officials... It's Ghana I would like to progress with," Boateng said.
