NDC and NPP parliamentary candidates for Techiman North and South, Hon. Adjei Mensah Hon. Prince Yaw Donyinah, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh and Prof. Christopher Ameyaw -Akumfi have re-affirmed their commitment to a peaceful election within the Techiman Municipality.

They were speaking in an interview with Classic FM’s morning show host Alhaji Tanko in an interview after meeting with the chiefs, religious and opinion leaders of the municipality.

The purpose of the politicians meeting with the chiefs was to advise the politicians and urge them to be agents of peace in the area and not seek political power as a matter of life and death.

Hon. Adjei Mensah stated in the interview that all the people of Techiman are one people and should not allow politics to embitter them against each other. He cited examples of violence in the past and stated that he would rather forfeit power if people have to lose their lives for the sake of his parliamentary ambition.

Hon. Prince Donyinah for his part also re-affirmed a similar commitment while calling for honesty. He says all forms of hypocrisy should be eschewed since that is the only way to ensure peace in the town.

For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for Techiman, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh who joined the interview later added his voice to the peace pledge.

He says he will also ensure peace as a matter conviction as well as duty since he is the MCE.

He admonished radio presenters to be very circumspect and fair in the discharge of their duties since their reports can cause a lot of unrest in the forthcoming elections.

Hon. Prof. Christopher Ameyaw- Akumfi, MP for Techiman North, who could not attend the meeting with the leaders of the municipality also said he was committed to peace in Techiman, saying that “if there will be unrests, it will not come from me or my people”.
