Authorities of Kumasi Polytechnic have closed down the school indefinitely due to the ongoing strike by the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG).

The authorities have therefore asked all students to vacate the campus by Saturday. The announcement was made earlier today after a mild confrontation between the striking POTAG lecturers and authorities of the school who had announced that they were bringing in external invigilators.

Per the academic timetable of the school, the students were supposed to have started their end of semester exams either by the end of this week or next week. Posters were pasted on campus to inform the students of management’s decision to import external invigilators to aid with the exams.

This according to reports led to a mild confrontation forcing the school authorities to close down the school indefinitely.

Meanwhile students of Sunyani Polytechnic have left their campus due to the same reason of the POTAG strike.

Citifmonline.com is however reliably informed that the remaining Polytechnics are yet to take a decision as to whether or not to close down the schools.
