| GTUC institutes measures to win quiz |

Dr Robert Baffuor, Vice President of Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC), on Wednesday said the university had instituted measures to enable it win next year's National Technology Quiz Competition.
He said these include quiz competitions, one-on-one learning tactics to ensure high retentive memory rate among the students, to adequately prepare them towards the NTQC.
Dr. Baffuor announced this during the finals of the university technology quiz competition, held at its Tesano campus in Accra.
The Telecommunication Engineering Faculty scored 108 points after three rounds of 20 questions each to beat Informatics Faculty that scored 98.5 points, and was presented with a trophy, and the Business Faculty was third.
Dr Baffuor explained that the measures were to improve on their abysmal performance in the quiz last year.
He said results so far indicated that the measures had significantly improved the learning and re-collection abilities of students adding that it would be made an annual affair for the students.
Dr Baffuor urged other institutions to embark on similar programmes to end the "chew and pour" phenomenon that characterised learning among students in the country.
Master Joseph Adane, Students Affairs Officer of the university, said the measures had been helpful to the students who now spent more time on their books.
The competition was sponsored by the managements of EPP Books, Voltic Ghana and Pepsi.
