A Deputy Minister of Information, James Agyenim-Boateng, has advised students to eschew social vices.
He said social vices such as internet fraud popularly called "sakawa" occultism and substance abuse were fast gaining grounds in the society.
Mr. Agyenim-Boateng was speaking at the diamond jubilee celebration and speech and prize giving day of the Winneba Senior High School in Winneba.
He reminded the youth not to be deceived that there was short cut to success in this life but rather hard work and to be dedicated to one's career.
The Minister said he was not happy that the rich cultural values of the nation were gradually being eroded and giving way to others that had no regard for virtues such as truth, integrity and service to one's nation.
He stressed the need to inject a sense of patriotism and nationalism into the youth so as to protect the nation's rich cultural past.
The Minister for Transport and MP for Effutu, Mike Hammah in a speech read for him, assured the Winneba Senior High School of government's support to enhance effective teaching and learning.
