A school proprietor has stressed the need for parents to ensure that their children studied at home after school hours to enable them to improve their academic performance.

Mr James Arthur, Proprietor of National Builders International School at Nkoranza, who was addressing a meeting of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the school, expressed concern about school children who attended video shows, dance and other social functions after school hours.

He said such negative behaviour adversely affected the performance of the children and appealed to them to exercise parental control over their children.

Mr Arthur said the staff of the school were feverishly preparing the final year students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and advised parents to complement the efforts of the teachers.

Mr Stephen Owusu-Ansah, PTA Chairman, called for effective collaboration between the teachers and parents to enhance the growth of the School.

He urged the parents to pay regular visits to interact with teachers in identifying and helping to solve the problems their children faced and appealed to them to support the Management of the School to promote teaching and learning.

Mr Cosmos Yeboah, member of the association, suggested to the School Authorities to provide incentive packages for the teachers including registering them under the Social Security and National Insurance Trust.
