Colonel Anthony Asare, acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Northern Command, has pledged the Military's commitment to work together with the police and other security Agencies to rein in violent and organized crime in the country.
He said they would work hard to provide adequate security for all and help create the right environment for the nation to attract foreign investors.
Colonel Asare was speaking to newsmen after inspecting a parade at the Fourth Battalion of Infantry (4BN) in Kumasi, mounted by one officer and 30 men.
The parade was organized by the Northern Command to extend its appreciation to the soldiers for their dedication and significant role in "Operation Calm Life", a joint military-police operation structured to curb robbery and other violent crimes in the Ashanti Region.
The acting GOC charged the officers and men to at all times maintain high standards of professionalism and abide by the code of ethics of the Ghana Armed Forces.
He praised the media and the general public for the support and cooperation given to the security agencies in the fight to bring down the rate of robbery in the Region.
A total of 16 robbers were killed and more than 30 others arrested in the region last year through the joint military-police operation.
Colonel Asare noted with satisfaction that since the beginning of the year, there had not been any high-profile robbery in Ashanti.
